Two Romanians decided to chase their plane across Cologne airport
Anyone who thought Mission Impossible was fiction may need to reconsider. Two men missed their Wizz Air flight to Bucharest and apparently decided that since the aircraft was still on the ground, they might as well try to catch it.
They forced open an emergency exit, because why use a normal door when you can choose the most expensive option, then sprinted across a restricted area where even insects would be turned away. Their target was an Airbus A321 with engines already at full throttle. The aircraft, unsurprisingly, showed no interest in the incoming pursuit team.
Airport staff intercepted the pair before they could marinade themselves in the turbine wash and handed them politely to the police. The gentlemen now face a packed schedule of consequences including public order violations, aviation safety offences and what may amount to a VIP ticket to a lifetime flight ban across Europe.
The flight departed with a short delay. One imagines the crew enjoyed the absurd spectacle before take off.
