ZIL, Vodka and a Direct Route to the Police Report

It plays like a scene from a Soviet-era satire, but the punchline here lands with a thud. A 68-year-old local’s misadventure behind the wheel of a ZIL truck has ended with more than just a dented façade: authorities have filed not one, but two formal reports against him.

At the center of it all was a vehicle conspicuously lacking the one thing every driver is meant to carry: valid insurance. Police eventually tracked down the gentleman in the very building he had managed to drive into, only to discover he was far from sober.

So, in addition to the missing paperwork and fleeing the scene, another timeless offence was added to the list: driving under the influence. A classic case, really - just not in the way he might have hoped.
