Volgatti – the bizarre lovechild of a Volga, a Bugatti, and a BMW
No, your eyes are not deceiving you. Some brave chaps from Belarus decided the world desperately needed this curious hybrid—a crossbreed combining the classic Soviet-era Volga, the sleek extravagance of a Bugatti, and the mechanical heart of a BMW 6 Series. This peculiar concoction was aptly christened the “Volgatti,” a name just as absurdly delightful as the vehicle itself.
Four fearless men devoted three years of their lives—clearly having nothing better to do—to creating this mechanical masterpiece. The final result devoured a staggering $120,000, only to end up as road-legal in Belarus as drifting a tank around your local roundabout. Indeed, to actually drive this beast legally on public roads would require spending another $20,000 on bureaucracy alone.
Underneath the bonnet lies a vigorous BMW heart pumping out no less than 330 horsepower—enough power to outrun your curious neighbors’ stares, though perhaps not sufficient to evade the local constabulary. The voluptuous body panels, crafted meticulously from fiberglass, echo both the Soviet charm of the old Volga and the decadent allure of a Bugatti. Real Bugatti parts were understandably out of the question, as that would’ve required investing roughly the entire GDP of Belarus into the project. Thankfully, at least the gleaming chrome details are authentic—lovingly restored to bring a nostalgic tear to anyone who fondly recalls the Soviet era.
Will the Volgatti become the next automotive sensation? Definitely not. Yet it's precisely these eccentric, delightfully absurd creations that make our automotive world so much more thrilling.
