In Russia, when life deals you the card “born with the right surname,” you do not need a licence, sobriety or even brakes, the road is yours. The latest VIP accident shows once again how privilege turns both perpetrators and victims into untouchables.
In a small village near Moscow, the daughter of a local gangster and the son of a prosecutor decided that the world was their personal racetrack. High on drugs, the group made a pit stop straight into someone’s front yard. By sheer luck the family was away visiting relatives; otherwise the headlines might have been about funerals rather than a crash.
And of course, in true post-Soviet fashion, the problem-solving began immediately on the spot. The young “heroes” assumed that threats and a quick call to the right office would erase both physics and traffic law. A minor footnote: the girl behind the wheel was drunk, the young man beside her was on narcotics.
This time, by some miracle, no one died.
