Veteran Traffic Offender Smashes Car to Pieces
A traffic accident occurred in Russia that could have ended far more tragically. A VAZ-2107 sedan and a UAZ SUV collided with such force that the former pride of the Soviet auto industry was literally shattered into pieces, leaving behind nothing but a pile of twisted metal.
The circumstances of the accident are made particularly telling by the profile of the person who caused it. It was revealed that the culprit is an experienced driver whose driving history dates back to 1975. Despite decades behind the wheel, he is a habitual traffic offender: the man has been cited for traffic violations 17 times, with three of those incidents occurring within the last year alone.
The 68-year-old man behind the wheel of the VAZ-2107 escaped with only bruises and abrasions. His 36-year-old passenger was not as fortunate, being diagnosed with facial abrasions and an eye injury. The driver of the UAZ sustained a concussion. Considering the state of the car after the collision, it is fair to say these men were given a second lease on life that day.
