Toyota's new electric SUV will receive technology from China.
Toyota's new electric SUV, the bZ3C, was first unveiled as a concept car at the Beijing Auto Show in the spring. Now, Toyota has shared a bit more detailed information about it. The bZ3C was created in collaboration with Chinese companies FAW and BYD and is equipped with the latest technological solutions that meet the expectations of urban youth.
Toyota was primarily responsible for the design of the bZ3C, creating a streamlined and youthful appearance for the vehicle. The vehicle's dimensions are: length 4780 mm, width 1866 mm, and height 1510 mm, with a wheelbase of 2880 mm. Five color combinations will be available to customers, including a trendy two-tone solution with a black roof. The interior finish includes three selectable color tones: classic black, elegant white, and bold red.
At the center of the cabin is a 15.6-inch multimedia screen equipped with several innovative features. Facial recognition, voice control, and gesture control allow the driver and passengers to interact intuitively with the technology installed in the car. Additionally, the system supports an AI-based virtual assistant.
The interior of the car is characterized by practicality: the backrests of the front seats can be folded down, creating a smooth surface for sleeping, for example. Although the trunk capacity is only 463 liters, the bZ3C compensates for this with other conveniences, such as a system that reminds the driver of children or pets left in the car.
Toyota involved the expertise of Chinese partners in the development of the bZ3C's electric drive and battery. The bZ3C will feature the BYD TZ200XS003 electric motor, with a power output of 272 horsepower. The battery supplier is BYD FinDreams, which uses lithium iron phosphate technology. Although the exact battery capacity details have not been disclosed, various sources suggest a range of 550–630 kilometers on a single charge.
The bZ3C stands out among many SUVs on the market thanks to its integrated lidar system, which opens the door to the next level of autonomous driving. Lidar enables precise spatial perception, enhancing the vehicle's ability to respond to traffic conditions.
