Subaru Plunges into the Electric Era with Uncharted, Solterra, and E-Outback
Subaru Europe has announced it will launch three all-electric models for the European market, leaning on the brand’s trademark all-wheel-drive systems and a few unexpected turns: the compact Subaru Uncharted, a refreshed Solterra, and the bold new E-Outback.
The Subaru Uncharted marks the brand’s first fully electric compact SUV. Buyers can choose from three drivetrain setups:
– An AWD dual-motor version (77 kWh battery) offering 252 kW (344 hp), 0–100 km/h in about 5.0 seconds, up to 470 km of range, and a towing capacity of 1,500 kg.
– A long-range FWD version with the same 77 kWh battery and a single motor, delivering up to 584 km of range.
– A more modest FWD variant with a 57.7 kWh battery, good for up to 444 km.
The Uncharted comes with a 22 kW onboard charger, fast-charging from 10 to 80 percent in roughly 30 minutes. A 5.5-meter turning radius, 210 mm of ground clearance, a 14-inch display, and paddle-controlled dual-mode driving add to its urban agility. It hits the market in early 2026.
Then there’s the Subaru E-Outback, the electric evolution of Subaru’s long-standing utility hero.
Powered by a 74.7 kWh battery and delivering 280 kW (380 hp), it sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in about 4.4 seconds with a range over 450 km. Expect full-time AWD, 210 mm of clearance, a dual-phase X-MODE terrain system, and 1,500 kg of towing muscle. It offers more cargo room than the Solterra—enough to swallow four large suitcases—and arrives by summer 2026.
Finally, the updated Subaru Solterra returns with real upgrades.
A 73.1 kWh battery and 252 kW (344 hp) push it from 0 to 100 km/h in around 5.1 seconds, with range now exceeding 500 km. Charging hits 80 percent in 30 minutes—even at –10 °C—and a 22 kW AC charger is optionally available. Towing capacity doubles to 1,500 kg. The front underbody has been aerodynamically reworked, the cabin has been refined, and a 14-inch screen now supports an expanded camera suite. Sales are expected to begin in 2026.
The Uncharted signals a bold shift in Subaru’s design vocabulary, while the revamped Solterra and E-Outback aim to deliver serious range, quick charging, and a sturdier electric foundation for the brand’s European ambitions.
