Speculations about the new Toyota Supra

The current fifth generation of the Toyota Supra is reaching the end of its lifecycle, and Toyota has already begun developing the next one, which will bring several significant changes. It should be noted that official information about the new Supra is extremely limited, so most of the following is pure speculation. However, based on past experiences, it can be said that a large part of this will likely come to fruition – if the company has certain solutions in place, there are always experts who can piece together the various likely components.

While the current GR Supra was born in collaboration with BMW, using the BMW Z4 platform and engines, the next Supra is reportedly going to be entirely Toyota's own creation. Under the hood will be a new generation 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo engine, with power reaching up to 400 horsepower and torque up to 500 Nm. But that's not all – the engine will be paired with an electric drive, making the car even more powerful and environmentally friendly. The engine itself is low in height, allowing for a sporty low nose design.

Although there are still many open questions about the new Supra, it is considered quite certain that a manual transmission will no longer be part of future plans. Instead, a classic automatic transmission will be offered, which, along with rear-wheel drive, will allow the car to maintain its dynamic character. This decision may provoke mixed opinions among purists, but it is clear that Toyota is forced to respond to increasingly stringent environmental requirements and find ways to combine sportiness and sustainability.

The current Toyota GR Supra will remain in production for a few more years. A lightly updated version of the model was recently introduced, which will stay on the market until 2026. At that time, BMW will cease production of the Z4 in Austria, marking the end of the current Supra era. Without the collaboration with BMW, it would be challenging to continue producing the existing model, so it seems logical that Toyota has already started developing the next generation.

The new Toyota Supra represents a new era. Hybrid technology brings greater power and a smaller environmental impact, while Toyota's independent approach allows for the creation of something truly unique. Although some traditions, like the manual transmission, may disappear, the Supra will remain true to its roots – it will continue to be a sports car that offers both power and emotion.
