Renault Makes the Electric Megane and Scenic Smarter, Sportier – and More Affordable
Renault hasn’t reinvented the wheel — but they’ve certainly added a clever layer of refinement, sharper styling, and one particularly handy feature: the ability to power your coffee machine straight from the car’s battery.
The updated Renault Megane E-Tech Electric and Scenic E-Tech Electric now come in a streamlined, sportier trim structure: techno, techno esprit Alpine, and iconic esprit Alpine. All versions now include One Pedal driving as standard, as well as a Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) adaptor, and soon, Plug & Charge capability for effortless public charging.
Esprit Alpine – everyday cars with a sharper edge
The esprit Alpine trim adds a dose of flair and attitude. Think F1-inspired matte grey front splitter, a matching rear diffuser, 20-inch Alpine alloy wheels, gloss black window trim, and ice-black Renault logos. It’s as if someone dressed a family hatchback in a tailored motorsport suit — and it works.
Inside, the Alpine influence continues with six-way power-adjustable sports seats with massage and lumbar support, upholstered in recycled titanium black mesh with contrast blue stitching. That same vivid detail appears on the door panels, centre console, seatbelts and even the floor mats. Alpine blue, it seems, is the new grey.
The Scenic esprit Alpine also gets face recognition, which automatically adjusts the driver’s seat and profile — particularly useful if you’re sharing the car with someone built from a different vertebral template.
One Pedal driving – smoother, smarter, and easier on the brakes
Every version now comes with One Pedal driving. Lift your foot off the accelerator, and the car smoothly decelerates, bringing you to a stop without touching the brake pedal. It’s eerily intuitive, like the car knows exactly when your takeaway latte is about to slosh over the cup.
Bonus: brake pads last longer. Downside? You might start forgetting where the brake pedal is.
And if you want more control, steering wheel paddles let you fine-tune the level of regenerative braking — like a toy car for grown-ups, only faster and much more expensive.
Power for more than just driving
Thanks to the standard V2L adaptor, you can now draw regular 230V electricity from your Renault. Power your laptop, cook breakfast at the campsite, or plug in a TV in the middle of the woods. The onboard 11 kW charger keeps the car running while feeding enough juice to support a full mini-camp setup.
Plug & Charge – public charging made seamless
Also included in both models is Plug & Charge capability. Just plug the car in — and that’s it. The system recognises the car, handles the payment automatically, and starts charging without any extra steps. It’s integrated with the Mobilize Charge Pass, and compatible chargers can be found directly via the My Renault app or the car’s own touchscreen interface.
Available to order from late April
