Retro Spirit, Rugged Soul: Renault 4 Savane 4x4 Turns Heads at the French Open
As the red clay courts of Roland-Garros come alive with the thwack of tennis balls, Renault seizes a different kind of spotlight just beyond the baseline. The Renault 4 Savane 4x4 Concept—a striking reinterpretation of the classic “gentleman explorer”—makes its stylish debut, fusing nostalgia with modern-day adventurous flair. It’s a compelling argument that rugged charm and urban chic can indeed wear the same license plate.
For the fourth consecutive year, Renault serves as an official partner of the French Open. But rather than simply branding a banner, the automaker has rolled out a bold concept vehicle designed to resonate with both the heritage of the original Renault 4 and the expectations of contemporary outdoor enthusiasts. The Savane name is no accident—it evokes the spirit of the freewheeling 1950s and the beloved 1986 edition that became a symbol of unbound mobility.
The 2025 Savane 4x4 boasts a 15 mm raised ground clearance, chunky 18-inch wheels wrapped in Goodyear UltraGrip tires, and widened tracks that lend it an unmistakable off-road silhouette. Its true capability, however, lies beneath—an additional electric motor at the rear axle grants it genuine all-wheel-drive credentials. Built on the AmpR Small platform, this electric B-segment SUV is more than a concept—it’s a viable vision.
Finished in a vibrant Jade Green, the Savane wears gloss-black trim, pixelated canvas roof panels, and impact-absorbing 3D-printed bumpers that are as functional as they are futuristic. Emblazoned with a “4Savane” logo on the flanks and a bold “4x4” on the tailgate, it announces its identity with pride.
Inside, the cabin is awash in Deep Brown TEP fabric, with quilted number fours and patterned seatbacks adding a bespoke touch. The dashboard mirrors the theme, wrapped in matching textiles, tone-on-tone stitching, and a softly glowing 4Savane emblem. It's a space that feels as ready for an alpine escape as it does for a Parisian café stop.
