Porsche 911 Spirit 70 – when the 1970s and the present drift through the corner side by side
Porsche once again proves that nostalgia sells — especially when it’s strapped to a hybrid powertrain and capable of 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.1 seconds. The new limited-edition 911 Spirit 70 isn’t just another retro reupholstery job; it’s a full-blown time machine, clad in disco-era flair but powered by a T-Hybrid system that could make even an environmental minister raise an approving eyebrow. Based on the Porsche 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet, it’s been generously seasoned with gold, patterns, heritage, and 541 horsepower.
The exterior is bathed in a custom Olive Neo finish — a greenish tone that recalls a military jacket left behind in Germany by someone effortlessly stylish, then rediscovered by Porsche and transformed into art. It’s matched with gold-accented Fuchs-style wheels, bold racing stripes, a golden tail badge, and a black fabric roof — the kind of roof that whispers class even when folded down at full throttle.
Inside, things get properly retro-futuristic. The Pasha pattern returns — that hypnotic, geometric upholstery design — now paired with digitised gauges disguised in classic form. Think glowing green dials and needle indicators straight out of a 1982 Geneva Motor Show — except now your smartphone is in your pocket and the engine hums with electricity, not smoke.
Speaking of which, the engine isn’t just powerful — it’s ferociously alive. The 3.6-litre flat-six, paired with electric assistance, produces a combined 541 PS and 610 Nm of torque — that’s 61 more horses than its predecessor. The result? When you put your foot down, nostalgia doesn’t just hit you in the feels — it slams into your bloodstream, and your backside glues itself to the seat like plaster to a wall.
Top speed? A heady 312 km/h. And you’ll enjoy every kilometre from the comfort of 18-way adjustable Sport Plus seats that massage, support, and cradle you like a German engineer who’s finally found someone worthy of his meticulously designed throne.
Production will be limited to just 1,500 units worldwide, each priced at €240,000. In other words, you may have to sacrifice a couple of investment flats, possibly one marriage, and most of your adult rationality — but in return, you’ll get a machine that’s part retro god, part T-800, born on a dance floor, wrapped in muscle, and very much still a Porsche.
