When a Politician Has No Underlings Left to Bully, the Road Pays the Price

A high-ranking Polish official recently gave the public a lesson in how not to drive. The marshal of one of Poland’s voivodeships—akin to a regional governor—decided to remind everyone on the highway that aggressive driving isn’t just for truckers. Apparently, it’s a privilege extended to Škoda drivers too.

Act one: the classic tailgating maneuver. The rest plays out on video. The result? An accident, and presumably a PR disaster. Though not, it seems, for the man himself, who appeared simply determined to “send a message.” Maybe it was an experiment in empathy: what does it feel like to be terrorized by a government official behind the wheel?

There’s a chance the gentleman will be “reassigned” to a role where doors still open for him—but only from the outside. Most likely, it’ll end with a fine and a carefully worded press release about exploring “new challenges.”
