Opel Mokka GSE: A Shock of Speed in a City Crossover
Opel has officially pulled the wraps off its long-teased Mokka GSE, now crowned the fastest all-electric Opel in series production. And it earns that title the old-fashioned way—by being quick. With 280 horsepower, 345 Nm of torque, and a 0–100 km/h sprint in just 5.9 seconds, this isn’t just a crossover with a plug—it’s a statement that even compact electric SUVs can flirt with track-day dreams.
Beneath the sculpted shell sits a 54 kWh battery powering the front wheels via a Torsen limited-slip differential. The dampers are borrowed from a race-bred prototype, and the entire high-voltage system—including the motor and inverter—traces its roots back to Opel’s motorsport division. The result? A sub-1.6-tonne machine that feels light on its feet and tight in the corners.
Visually, the Mokka GSE doesn’t whisper—it shouts. Think spoilers, 20-inch alloys wrapped in Michelin rubber, yellow brake calipers, and GSE badging on every angle. The black-and-yellow detailing is more streetwear than school uniform. Inside, Alcantara trims, a sport steering wheel, and bolstered seats reinforce the promise that this isn’t your average urban runabout.
Drivers can choose between three modes: Sport unleashes full performance; Normal caps the top speed at 180 km/h; and Eco tames the beast for range and restraint. One car, three moods—but the real personality only shows when your foot hits the floor.
It’s an ambitious, even slightly paradoxical package: a city crossover dressed and tuned like a race car. Whether that formula resonates or lands as niche remains to be seen. But one thing is clear: Opel no longer wants to be just the sensible choice—it wants to get your heart racing, too.
