Triple Charge: Opel Unleashes Electrified Lineup with Grandland, Frontera and Mokka
Opel is charging ahead with a trio of fresh-faced crossovers—Grandland, Frontera, and Mokka—each tailored for the electric or hybrid-curious. Whether you’re ready to ditch the gas pump or still flirting with electrification, Opel’s new lineup offers something for every shade of driver.
Leading the charge is the all-new Grandland, Opel’s first model to ride on Stellantis’ STLA Medium platform. It doesn’t just wear its 3D grille and rear-end “OPEL” script for style—the tech under the skin is equally bold. With three battery options (73, 82, and a forthcoming 97 kWh), the Grandland boasts a WLTP range of up to 700 kilometers. And if you’re running low, a rapid charge brings you to 80% in under 30 minutes.
On the smaller end of the scale is the feisty Opel Mokka Electric. Powered by a 115 kW (156 hp) motor and a 54 kWh battery, it promises up to 403 km of range. Thanks to a low center of gravity and quick throttle response, it’s far from a dull commuter. Inside, a 10-inch display, touchscreen interface, and even ChatGPT integration in the navigation system add modern polish.
Then there’s the all-new Frontera, stepping onto the scene with a tougher design and smart interior packaging. Electrically, it offers between 305 and 400 kilometers of range, depending on whether you opt for the standard 44 kWh battery or wait for the longer-range variant.
For those not ready to cut the cord entirely, all three models are available with 48V mild hybrid powertrains—a 1.2-liter turbo engine paired with a small electric motor and six-speed dual-clutch transmission ensures smooth, quiet, and efficient urban driving.
And bridging the gap between plug and play, the Grandland plug-in hybrid delivers up to 87 km of electric range and a combined output of 195 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque. It’s not blisteringly fast—0 to 100 km/h in 7.8 seconds—but it’s more than enough to keep things interesting.
To sweeten the switch, Opel is bundling its “Electric All In” package with every EV sold in Europe: home charging hardware, connectivity services, an eight-year mobile charging assistance plan, and battery warranty—everything you need to make the jump to electric, minus the headache.
