Nissan Murano Finally Gets a New Generation The Nissan Murano is set to hit the market with an all-new generation, bringing significant updates in both design and technology. The current Murano generation was released in 2014, and it's no longer available in many markets. However, a major revamp is expected, with a possible debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November 2024, indicating that North America will remain its primary market. Exterior Design The design of the new Nissan Murano signals a bold and modern approach. The front end has been completely redesigned, featuring prominent LED headlights framing a wide grille. The new Murano shares some design cues with the electric Nissan Ariya SUV, especially the sloping roofline and rear light clusters. The taillights extend to the sides of the vehicle but, unlike the Ariya, they aren’t fully connected, as the Nissan logo breaks up the light bar in the center. Interior and Technology Inside, the focus is on modern comfort and advanced technology. The dashboard will house two 12.3-inch screens: one for the infotainment system and the other for the driver’s instruments. The interior is enhanced with premium materials, including soft upholstery and massaging front seats for added luxury. Optional 64-color ambient lighting creates a refined atmosphere. New tech features include a 3D surround view system, which offers a comprehensive view around the car, and an “Invisible Hood” feature, which helps with precise navigation on difficult terrains. Engine and Performance The new Murano will see a major shift under the hood. The previously available 3.5-liter V6 engine will be replaced by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, also found in the Infiniti QX60. This engine produces 272 horsepower and 388 Nm of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission, promising a more efficient and responsive driving experience. Safety and Connectivity Nissan has placed a strong emphasis on safety. The standard Nissan Safety Shield® 360 suite includes a variety of driver assistance systems. Additionally, the new Murano will come equipped with ProPILOT Assist, a system designed to maintain lane positioning and speed during highway driving. For seamless connectivity, the vehicle will feature Google integration, with Google Maps and other apps available through the 12.3-inch touchscreen, ensuring drivers stay connected on the go. The new Murano will officially go on sale in early 2025, with pricing to be announced closer to the release date.
