Lexus Lightens the Load: IS, RC and UX Set to Exit Stage Left
Lexus is cleaning house. According to the latest updates, production of most IS sedans, the RC coupe, and several versions of the compact UX crossover will cease this November. So if you’ve been dreaming of an IS 500 or any other aging four-wheeled icon, now is the time to make your move.
The final bow belongs to the Lexus RC Final Edition, a model with a name that sounds more like a retiring Hollywood star getting the send-off they deserve. Only 200 units will be made—all for Japan—and they’ve already been snapped up. Black accents, commemorative badging and an elevated cabin finish aim to leave a lasting impression of something truly special. Price: 6.7 million yen. Currency conversion is up to you.
The all-electric UX 300e, which debuted six years ago, will vanish from the lineup in November. The hybrid 300h follows in March of next year. Something new is supposedly on the horizon, but unsurprisingly, Lexus isn’t saying much just yet.
The IS may be reborn in 2026 as an electric or hybrid offering. Maybe a future coupe will replace both the RC and the LC. Maybe not.
