When Black Gets Even Blacker: The Land Rover Defender Octa Black Emerges from the Shadows

Did anyone ask for an even blacker Defender? Probably not, but Land Rover decided the world was ready for a new level entirely. Enter the Defender Octa Black—blacker than night, bolder than ever and eye-catching enough to halt even the coldest gaze.

Exactly one year ago, the stage was set for the Defender Octa, a feral 4.4-litre V8 beast whose 635 horsepower and 750 Nm of torque had rivals glancing nervously in their rearview mirrors. But now, in 2025, a new star has stepped into the spotlight: the Octa Black, a machine with no interest in subtlety. Its entire body is drenched in Narvik Black, which Land Rover calls its darkest shade ever. And truly, if you see this car on a dark night, it’s probably already too late.

If gloss isn’t intimidating enough, you can wrap the whole thing in a matte protective film. Thirty new design details, all rendered in either Gloss Black or Satin Black, drive home the theme with relentless dedication. Even the Land Rover oval badge is black, its lettering creeping across the emblem in a ghostly silver shimmer.

Wheel options include 20- or 22-inch forged black rims, with black center caps bearing the Defender name and matching black brake calipers. From the outside, this machine is the Darth Vader of the automotive world: massive, black and unapologetically menacing.

The cabin doesn’t lighten up either. Ebony Semi-Aniline leather, Kvadrat accents, perforated details and a powder-coated satin black dashboard set a tone where luxury meets darkness. And if that’s not enough, carbon fiber trim is available for those who want to push the envelope further.

And make no mistake, this isn’t just a pretty toy. It rockets from zero to one hundred in four seconds flat and tops out at 250 km/h.
