Kia Recalls Sorento Over Fire Risk

South Korean automaker Kia has announced in an official press release the recall of 1,385 Sorento SUVs manufactured between April and October 2024. The recall is due to a detected defect in the fuel system that may lead to a fire in the event of a traffic collision.

The recall campaign covers vehicles produced from early April to mid-October 2024. The issue lies in a manufacturing defect in the fuel line. According to the company, a severe frontal collision could cause the vehicle's frame to shift backward, potentially resulting in contact between the steering rack and the fuel line. This contact could damage the fuel line.

If the fuel line is damaged, the risk of a fuel leak increases, which may lead to a vehicle fire. Kia emphasizes that owners of affected vehicles will receive official notifications starting in early January. The company strongly advises affected owners to promptly visit Kia's authorized dealerships to have the necessary repairs completed.

Kia has assured that all repairs will be performed free of charge to ensure vehicle safety and prevent potential hazards in the future. The automaker apologized for any inconvenience caused and reaffirmed its commitment to prioritizing safety above all else.
