Kia Unveils the New Electric EV4
Korean automaker Kia has revealed the first images of its new EV4 electric vehicle, though technical specifications remain undisclosed until the Kia EV Day event in Spain on February 27. The images showcase two distinct body styles—a sporty sedan and a more practical hatchback. While both share an identical front-end design, they differ significantly in the rear, both in aesthetics and structure.
Design and Styling
Both versions adhere to Kia’s Opposites United design philosophy, which emphasizes clean, minimalist forms. The front of the EV4 is characterized by vertically stacked LED headlights with slim daytime running light strips, a gloss black trim line along the hood, a sleek, uncluttered front bumper, and a large mesh-pattern lower grille. Chrome accents are absent, with Kia opting instead for gloss black detailing to enhance the vehicle’s modern appearance.
Distinct Body Styles
The hatchback variant follows a traditional compact form, featuring short overhangs, a wide rear spoiler, protective cladding on the wheel arches and side skirts, and flush door handles for a clean look. The sedan, however, takes a more aerodynamic and dynamic approach, incorporating a low hood line, a smooth roofline that merges into an extended rear section, and an integrated slightly raised tail with a spoiler. The taillight designs differ between the sedan and hatchback, further distinguishing the two body styles.
The sedan variant was presented in the GT-Line trim, which appears to include 19-inch alloy wheels and a more aggressive aerodynamic body kit. Although the interior has not yet been officially revealed, Kia has confirmed that it will feature eco-friendly materials, including recycled cotton and natural dyes.
Technical Details and Future Updates
While official specifications are still pending, industry sources suggest that the EV4 will be available with two battery options—58.3 kWh and 81.4 kWh. The car is expected to be powered by a 201-horsepower electric motor mounted on the front axle. Further details on performance, range, and availability are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
