Kia EV4 Tested Hard in Europe, Promises Battery Endurance and Everyday Resilience

Kia says its upcoming EV4 isn’t just built for school runs and city errands—it’s ready for the rough stuff too. After racking up 10,000 km on test tracks and another 110,000 km on public roads across Europe, the battery’s State of Health (SoH) reportedly remained at a reassuring 95%.

The company also promises that the EV4 will retain at least 70% of its battery capacity after eight years or 160,000 kilometers—a benchmark that aligns with industry guarantees, but still stands out for its numerical confidence.

Kia highlights regenerative braking, claiming it can recapture up to 25% of energy during deceleration, thereby easing battery strain and boosting overall efficiency. It’s a field where Kia already has solid form, and while not revolutionary, it’s competently executed.

The EV4 has been put through its paces on icy roads and racetracks—not because it’s a hypercar, but to demonstrate that it can handle more abuse than the average driver will ever dish out. That kind of reassurance is exactly what today’s mainstream EV buyer wants to hear.

On paper, the EV4 looks impressively durable. But like with all electric cars, the real test is time. Promises are good. Proof takes years and kilometers.
