This week, the Estonian Police and Border Guard Board (PPA), in collaboration with the Tallinn Rotary Club, delivered 22 police vehicles to Ukraine—some funded through donations. The vehicles will be deployed in police and border guard units across the Kherson, Zhytomyr, Sumy and Chernihiv regions.

According to PPA Director General Egert Belitšev, the donation aims to support Ukraine’s internal security, where police and border forces play a vital role. “A nation’s strength begins with its internal security, and in Ukraine, the police and border guard are on the front line helping their people. However, they lack vehicles—many are outdated, and others destroyed in Russian attacks. We must do everything we can to support our colleagues there, and with these police vehicles, we’re helping to modernize their fleet so officers and guards can do their jobs,” said Belitšev.

This shipment includes 13 Volkswagen Amaroks, eight Škoda Scalas and one Nissan Patrol. Eight of the vehicles—formerly in active PPA service—were purchased with donations from private individuals, police officers and volunteer police, raising nearly €75,000 in total.

Since the beginning of 2024, Estonia has sent a total of 57 police emergency vehicles to Ukraine. In addition to the PPA and the Rotary Club, the donation effort was supported by the Estonian section of the International Police Association (IPA), the Estonian Volunteer Police Association, DefSecIntel, Circle K and Rohe Auto AS.
