Driver Fined and License Revoked After Dangerous Crosswalk Incident
Information about a traffic violation shared on social media reached the police, and a ruling has now been finalized: the 36-year-old driver responsible has been fined and stripped of his license. The total fine, including expert analysis fees, runs into four figures. The driver had no prior infractions.
👉 According to the expert report, the vehicle was traveling at 66 km/h when approaching an unregulated pedestrian crossing. The speed limit on that stretch of road is 40 km/h.
👉 When a vehicle in an adjacent lane is slowing down or stopping at an unregulated pedestrian crossing, the driver must also stop and may only proceed after ensuring no pedestrian is in or approaching the crosswalk. Passing another vehicle in such a scenario is strictly prohibited.
Had a collision occurred in the situation shown in the video, the pedestrian’s chance of survival would have been extremely low due to the car’s speed. Every road user has a duty to avoid endangering others. Traffic rules and speed limits exist for a reason—and that reason is real.
The police extended their thanks to the bus driver who alerted the pedestrian to the danger.
