Škoda and the Big SUV: When Scandinavian Minimalism Meets a Tank

Author: auto.pub | Published on: 17.03.2025

When someone says "large European SUV," your mind probably jumps straight to the BMW X5, Audi Q7, or Volkswagen Touareg’s latest "I’m actually premium now" version. But Škoda? Surely not.
Well, guess what? Škoda is now making a massive, seven-seater crossover!

This is the production version of the Vision 7S concept, first unveiled in 2022, and if you're wondering what it looks like, imagine a third-generation IKEA Billy bookshelf having an intense love affair with an armored personnel carrier.

A High-Tech Tank with a Dash of Minimalism
If the concept is anything to go by, the production model will feature massive screens and a minimalist dashboard, because in 2025, every car must feel like a Scandinavian designer’s wet dream.

And the seating layout? 2+2+2+1—yes, you read that right. That final "1" refers to a dedicated child seat, positioned backward, just like in the concept. Because what child wouldn’t want to experience every journey feeling like they're about to be launched into space?

Under the Hood: More Electricity Than a Small Power Plant
Škoda hasn’t officially revealed any technical details yet, but if we take the Vision 7S as a benchmark, expect:
Volkswagen’s MEB platform
An 89 kWh battery
A claimed range of up to 600 km (assuming you drive like a Buddhist monk and avoid the accelerator like it’s cursed)

Potential Versions:
Single-motor, rear-wheel drive? Almost certainly.
Dual-motor, all-wheel drive? Highly likely.
A petrol engine? Well… if you think it's still 2012, then maybe.

When Can You Buy One?
Škoda hasn't provided an exact launch date, but since it's already been spotted in promotional videos, it's safe to assume it will hit the market before the end of 2025.

So, if you want a massive SUV that blends practicality, technology, and just enough quirkiness to keep things interesting, the Škoda Space might just be your kind of tank.
