Dacia Goes Full Digital – And It's Not What You'd Expect

If someone had told you ten years ago that Dacia – yes, that "keep-it-cheap-and-simple" brand – would one day unleash a full-blown digital ecosystem, you’d have laughed them straight out of the dealership. But here we are, and believe it or not, Dacia has gone digital. Properly digital.

They’ve shifted gears and launched a suite of apps that turn your budget-friendly ride into something that feels smarter than your overpriced smartphone. There’s My Dacia, the app that knows more about your car than your overly nosy neighbour ever could. Then there’s Media Control, which turns your humble phone into a fully integrated infotainment centre. You can monitor fuel consumption, queue up your favourite playlist, and even flash your car’s lights remotely – all without ever touching the vehicle itself.

Still not impressed? Enter Dacia Travel Companion – an app that watches your facial expressions and tells you when you look too knackered to drive. Then it politely suggests a café stop, just to keep things civil. It’s basically your best mate on a road trip, only without the constant commentary or awful music taste.

And just when you think it can’t get any more futuristic, here comes Dacia AR – augmented reality that lets you virtually explore your boot space and kit it out with accessories... from your couch. Because honestly, what better way to spend a Saturday morning than reorganising your luggage space using nothing but your thumbs?

Bottom line? Dacia is no longer just the cheap-and-cheerful option. It’s the car brand with more apps than your phone, and one that might soon start monitoring your cat’s sleep schedule for all we know. Dacia has somehow managed to become both digitally savvy and wallet-friendly – which, my friend, is rarer these days than a Range Rover that doesn’t leak oil.
