Brabus Presents the Rocket GTS – a Three-Door Shooting Brake Based on the Mercedes-AMG SL

The tuning firm Brabus has unveiled its latest project, the Rocket GTS, based on the Mercedes-AMG SL. Unlike the typical convertible, the Rocket GTS is a three-door shooting brake that combines sportiness with practicality. Interestingly, Brabus chose the hybrid AMG SL E Performance as the base rather than the AMG GT coupe.

Brabus engineers significantly reimagined the car’s body, creating a unique three-door design featuring a liftgate trunk. The body is made of carbon fiber coated with transparent lacquer to emphasize the material’s natural beauty. Aerodynamic elements, like the diffuser and rear spoiler, were crafted not only for visual appeal but also for functionality, enhancing stability at high speeds. While exact specs haven’t been disclosed, Brabus claims the car remains stable even above 300 km/h.

At the heart of the Rocket GTS lies a heavily modified 4.4-liter V8 engine (originally 4.0 liters). New turbochargers, intake, and exhaust systems were installed. Paired with the hybrid system, the car achieves up to 1,000 horsepower and an impressive 1,820 Nm of torque, though torque is electronically limited to 1,620 Nm to prevent transmission overload. The Rocket GTS accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.7 seconds and 0 to 200 km/h in 9.5 seconds, with a top speed electronically capped at 317 km/h.

The interior has been entirely reimagined with high-quality materials like Alcantara and carbon fiber. Upgrades include door panels, the dashboard, and rear armrests. Brabus added custom details such as matte "Shadow Gray" accents and "ROCKET GTS" logos throughout the cabin. The car seats four (2+2).

Wide wheel arches house custom-made BRABUS Monoblock P "PLATINUM EDITION" center-locking five-spoke wheels, crafted using advanced forging and CNC technology for maximum strength and lightness. Integrated carbon fiber aerodynamic components aid in brake cooling, effectively channeling hot air out of the wheel wells.

The car is equipped with Brabus’s high-performance exhaust system, which includes special catalytic converters and particulate filters, allowing the driver to choose between a quieter or a more powerful V8 sound.

Brabus is ready to start limited production of the Rocket GTS, though the exact quantity hasn’t been revealed. The starting price is €946,000. With its unique characteristics and technical prowess, it’s aimed at a discerning clientele seeking something truly special and exclusive.
