Audi Q3 e-hybrid: A Premium Plug-In That Promises Plenty, but Plays It Safe
Audi has unveiled the latest plug-in hybrid addition to its compact SUV lineup: the Q3 e-hybrid. And if the word “hybrid” no longer stirs excitement, it’s worth noting that this model offers up to 119 kilometers of electric range (WLTP)—a segment-leading figure.
Gone is the old 1.4 TFSI engine, replaced by the more efficient and lighter 1.5 TFSI evo2, which runs on the Miller cycle and produces 177 hp. Paired with an 85 kW electric motor and a six-speed S tronic dual-clutch gearbox, the Q3 e-hybrid delivers a combined output of 200 kW (272 hp) and 400 Nm. It hits 0–100 km/h in 6.8 seconds and tops out at around 215 km/h.
The new 25.7 kWh battery—nearly double the size of its predecessor—is tucked beneath the rear seats and enables:
– Up to 119 km of electric driving
– 50 kW DC fast charging: 10 to 80 percent in 26 minutes
– 11 kW AC charging: full in 2.5 hours
Pricing for the Q3 e-hybrid starts at €56,090 in Europe. Optional trims include:
– Advanced (+€1,650): 18" wheels, heated front seats, 3-zone climate control
– S line (+€2,850): 19" wheels, sportier body kit
– Black line (+€5,130): 20" wheels, black accents, LED Plus headlights, illuminated Audi logos
This isn’t a revolution—it’s a polished, upper-tier plug-in hybrid with most of the innovation buried in the battery pack. It’s designed for those not quite ready to go fully electric but still looking to access low-emission zones, pocket government incentives, and feel like they’re driving something “future-forward.”
