Even the Best Aren’t Immune: Aston Martin Recalls Over 1,500 Cars

Aston Martin has identified a technical issue that has led to the recall of more than 1,500 luxury supercars and SUVs. The problem concerns the functionality of the rearview camera, which may fail to display its feed on the infotainment system screen during reverse maneuvers. While restarting the engine temporarily resolves the issue, it also causes the media system to reboot, a process that can take up to 30 seconds—a delay that doesn’t align with the expectations of a luxury car owner. To address the defect, a software update is required. However, not all vehicles can receive the fix remotely, meaning some will need to be taken to a service center for repair.

The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has approved the recall of 1,452 Aston Martin models, including the Vantage, DB12, and DBX 707, in the United States. Additionally, approximately 100 vehicles will need repairs in other markets. Several countries mandate that rearview camera feeds must appear on the screen immediately when reversing, rather than after the vehicle has already begun moving.

The recall affects vehicles produced from March 2024 onward. For models manufactured from September 2024, the glitch can be resolved via an over-the-air update. However, owners of older models will need to visit a service center. The issue stems from incorrect prioritization of applications within the infotainment system.

According to NHTSA, the issue impacts the following models in the U.S. market:

DBX 707: 342 vehicles
Vantage: 200 vehicles
DB12: 138 vehicles
These affected units are all from the 2024 production batch.

Aston Martin remains committed to addressing the problem efficiently while ensuring their vehicles continue to meet the highest safety and quality standards.
