Alpina Unveils Its Last Independent Model

Alpina has introduced the striking B8 GT, a high-performance sedan based on the all-wheel-drive BMW M850i xDrive Gran Coupe, equipped with a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine. This Alpina-engineered version delivers an impressive 634 horsepower and 850 Nm of torque, propelling the car from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds.

This marks the final model Alpina will present as an independent manufacturer. The B8 GT builds on the platform of the BMW M850i xDrive Gran Coupe, but with significant enhancements by Alpina’s engineers. The powerful twin-turbo V8 engine exceeds the performance of the standard BMW 8 Series, which produces 530 horsepower and 750 Nm of torque. Compared to the regular Alpina B8 (without the GT designation), which outputs 621 horsepower and 800 Nm, the B8 GT is even more powerful.

Mated to a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive, the Alpina B8 GT reaches 100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds, only 0.1 seconds slower than the M8 Competition. Its top speed is an impressive 330 km/h, matching that of the B5 GT.

The car’s equipment is equally remarkable. It features aerodynamic components made from carbon fiber and 21-inch forged Classic wheels wrapped in Pirelli P Zero tires. The interior is crafted with natural leather and wood, providing a luxurious and sophisticated ambience. Only 99 units of the B8 GT will be produced, with 20 of them offered in an exclusive two-tone paint scheme combining blue or green with black. Each owner will receive two bespoke travel bags made of Lavalina leather and a special edition Carl F. Bucherer Manero Flyback chronograph. The price for this rarity is set at €225,000. For comparison, the BMW M850i xDrive starts at €134,900, and the M8 Competition Gran Coupe begins at €180,500.

Alpina will remain an independent manufacturer until 2025, after which the rights to the brand will be acquired by BMW AG. Already, Alpina vehicles are listed alongside BMW’s main models on the company’s U.S. website. The future Alpina lineup is expected to undergo a complete transformation, with designs led by former Polestar stylist Maximilian Missoni. The first glimpse of this new direction is expected soon.
