Subaru Promises: The All-New Outback Is Almost Here

Subaru has officially confirmed that the all-new 2026 Outback will make its global debut on April 16 at the New York International Auto Show. And if you’re thinking this is just another over-polished crossover unveiling with faux rugged trim and the word lifestyle repeated 37 times… think again.
This is Subaru.

And more specifically, this is the Outback – a car with more personality than some SUVs have wheels. And now, Subaru says the next generation is coming. Bigger? Probably. Tougher? Almost certainly. Dirtier floor mats? Almost guaranteed.

For over 30 years, the Outback has been the answer to that eternal question: “What do I buy if I need to drive up a mountain, but also drop the kids off at daycare?” Now, it’s getting a full refresh – and it’s bringing its wilder sibling along for the ride: the Outback Wilderness. A version that, if history is any guide, will eat regular crossovers for breakfast – and won’t apologize while doing it.
