Zagato Unveils Its First In-House Hypercar: Classic Spirit, Gullwing Doors

Zagato, the Italian design house long celebrated for shaping other makers’ machines, is finally stepping into the limelight under its own name. Its first hypercar, due next year, is no sterile electric capsule but a pure-blooded analogue creation that promises nostalgia and extremity in equal measure—its doors stretching skyward in gullwing fashion.

The company has released a shadowy teaser of its debut hypercar, set for launch in the first half of next year. The image hints at dramatic gullwing doors, muscular front fenders and slim-stalked mirrors. Enhanced detail work reveals sharp headlamp outlines, a flowing, athletic front bumper, a bonnet scoop and a cockpit adorned with three classic dials.

Technical specifications remain under wraps, but Zagato’s promise of an “analogue soul” suggests this is no battery-driven experiment. More likely, under the bonnet will sit a naturally aspirated V8—or perhaps a theatrical V12—the kind of engines that have become rare artefacts in today’s market. The choice would be perfectly in line with Zagato’s history, where emotion and design have always outweighed dry technocracy.

Engineering and production are entrusted to Capricorn, a firm renowned for precision construction and hand-built craftsmanship. Output will be limited to just 19 units, ensuring instant desirability among collectors.

The official unveiling is scheduled for next month in Belgium.
