Xiaomi YU7: China’s Tech-Loaded SUV Comes with 835 km of Range and a Fridge

Xiaomi is stepping further into the EV ring with the launch of the YU7, a fully electric SUV that makes some seriously bold promises. The standard rear-wheel-drive model claims up to 835 kilometers of range. Opt for the Pro or Max versions—with all-wheel drive and more power—and you still get an impressive 770 km. Sure, that’s probably under ideal conditions, with perfect weather and a fern in the trunk, but the numbers are nothing to sneeze at.

Charging times are equally headline-worthy: 80% in 12 minutes, and a 15-minute top-up adds 620 kilometers of range. That’s not just convenient—it’s borderline game-changing. And if you’re wondering about speed, the Max trim rockets to 100 km/h in just 3.23 seconds.

But the YU7 isn’t just fast—it’s smart. The adaptive Smart Chassis predicts potholes before you hit them. There’s even an anti-nausea mode that claims to reduce motion by 51%, just in case your passengers are prone to upchucking on winding roads.

Inside, you’ll find a HyperVision Mini LED screen projecting key info just below the windshield, keeping your eyes on the road. When you turn, a blind-spot camera view pops up next to the side mirror. Thoughtful, right?

If any EV tries to double as a living space, it’s the YU7: a 1.8-meter flatbed setup, up to 1,758 liters of cargo space, a 25-speaker sound system, and yes—an actual fridge embedded in the back seat. This is rolling domesticity.

Three trims, three price tags:
Standard (RWD): €30,200
Pro (AWD): €33,300
Max (AWD, sport-tuned): €39,300

All models come stuffed with more tech than the average electronics store. And each has been tested over 6.49 million kilometers—yes, they really drove it that much. Why? Who knows. But someone had to.

Will all of this actually work in the real world? Time will tell. But at the very least, you’ll always have a cold drink within arm’s reach—and that says more than any press release ever could.
