Volvo marks its centenary with a special-edition FH
Volvo Trucks is launching the Volvo 100 Year Edition ahead of the company's centenary celebrations in 2027. The special edition will be available on the FH Aero, FH, FH16 Aero and FH16, with the main changes focused on the cab and exterior design. Order books open in September 2026.
The Volvo brand celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2027. The company's first series-produced car rolled off the line in 1927, followed by its first truck in 1928.
The anniversary edition uses the existing engineering of the FH family. Volvo says it will be available with most of the drivelines and chassis configurations currently offered for the FH Aero, FH, FH16 Aero and FH16.
Most of the anniversary treatment is inside the cab
The 100 Year Edition differs most noticeably from a regular FH in its interior. The redesigned two-tone seats combine a premium leather lower section with grey textile on the upper half, embroidered with an anniversary motif. Tan leather details echo the colour of the striping used on the exterior.
The special edition also gets illuminated doorsteps and LED ambient lighting that can be set to red or white. When a door is opened, a welcome light projects the anniversary motif onto the ground beside the truck.
The same motif appears on newly developed 3D-printed speaker grilles. The cab curtains feature a line-up of Volvo trucks from across the past century, while the floor is finished with a thicker black-and-grey mélange mat accented by tan leather labels.
The mechanical specification depends on the chosen FH version
The 100 Year Edition is not a separate technical model. Power output, drivetrain and chassis specification depend on which FH variant and configuration the customer chooses.
Volvo has continued to update the FH family's electric, gas and diesel powertrains, with recent improvements focused on performance, range, energy efficiency and power. The anniversary edition combines those existing technical options with its bespoke design treatment.
The FH and FH Aero have also performed strongly in Euro NCAP's heavy-truck safety assessments. Five-star ratings have so far been awarded to the FH 4x2 tractor, FH 6x2 rigid, FH Aero 4x2 tractor and FH Aero 6x2 rigid.
The Volvo 100 Year Edition is therefore primarily a commemorative design and equipment package rather than a distinct mechanical derivative. It gives customers the option of an anniversary-spec truck without giving up most of the usual FH powertrain and chassis choices.
