Toyota C-HR+ Electric: a confident new charge forward

Toyota is taking the next step in its multi-tech journey with the new C-HR+ Electric, its second fully electric model after the bZ4X. Compact, stylish, and quietly assertive, the newcomer promises up to 609 kilometres of range and 343 horsepower, though its fast-charging speed remains modest at best.

Built on Toyota’s e-TNGA platform, the C-HR+ Electric blends a rigid structure, coupe-like aerodynamics, and a thoughtfully designed cabin. Two powertrain options are available: front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, in Advance and Spirit trims. The front-drive version delivers 224 hp and a range of up to 609 km, while the AWD variant adds a rear motor, raising output to 343 hp and cutting the 0–100 km/h sprint to 5.2 seconds.

Power comes from a 77 kWh lithium-ion battery, which recharges from 10 to 80 percent in about 30 minutes at a DC fast charger. A pre-heating function — activated manually, on a timer, or automatically when approaching a charger — helps optimise charging efficiency. AC charging is rated at 11 kW (Advance) or 22 kW (Spirit). Regenerative braking can be adjusted in four stages using steering paddles, giving the driver finer control and improved efficiency.

Sleeker, sharper, more aerodynamic

Visually, the new C-HR+ Electric is Toyota’s most dynamic iteration yet. Its clean front panel, slim LED headlights, and low-slung roofline create a sportier silhouette with a drag coefficient of 0.26. Hidden door handles, a sculpted rear spoiler, and up to 20-inch wheels emphasise its athletic stance while improving airflow.

Thoughtful interior, subtle luxury

Inside, Toyota has focused on space, quality, and sustainability. Recycled PET fabrics feature throughout, with trim combinations ranging from cloth and synthetic leather to Alcantara-style suede. Boot capacity stands at 416 litres, complemented by a 64-colour ambient lighting system and a panoramic roof. The Spirit trim adds an electric driver’s seat with memory, a heated windscreen, and more upscale detailing.

Tech and safety

A 7-inch digital cluster and 14-inch multimedia touchscreen dominate the dashboard, supporting wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Audio comes from a JBL Premium system with nine speakers and an 800-watt amplifier.

Toyota’s latest Safety Sense suite is standard, including blind-spot monitoring, adaptive high beams, parking sensors with brake assist, and a 360-degree camera view. A clever exit assist system warns occupants of cyclists or vehicles approaching from behind when opening a door.

Pricing and availability

In Europe, the Toyota C-HR+ Electric starts from €36,500 (£31,000) for the Advance trim and €44,000 (£37,500) for the Spirit. Deliveries begin in the first quarter of 2026.

Sleek, efficient, and unmistakably Toyota, the C-HR+ Electric doesn’t rewrite the EV rulebook, but it refines it carefully, methodically, and in true Toyota fashion.
