Turkey’s Togg Tests Its Strength on the German Market
At Munich’s IAA Mobility, Turkish EV brand Togg announced its entry into Germany with two models: the T10X SUV and the sleek new T10F fastback sedan. Both carry a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating, a clear attempt to stake out territory alongside Europe’s and Asia’s established giants.
Orders open on September 29, but not through traditional dealerships. Instead, Togg will sell exclusively via its own digital platform, Trumore. It is another effort to “start-up” the sales process, presenting Togg as more than a carmaker — as part of a broader mobility ecosystem.
CEO Gürcan Karakaş underscored the strategic importance of the German market and hinted that the next step could involve extending Togg’s charging network, Trugo. The company makes no secret of its ambition to serve as Turkey’s automotive calling card, a sentiment reinforced by chairman Fuat Tosyalı, who described the brand’s European debut as a “historic moment.”
That Turkey is now designing and selling its own EVs in Germany is undeniably symbolic. Whether Togg can actually carve out a foothold in a market where Volkswagen, Tesla and the Chinese already battle for supremacy is another question altogether. For now, Togg is more intriguing newcomer than established player.
