Suzuki's Electric e Vitara Launches with a Self-Styled Discount Scheme
Suzuki is hoping to sweeten the autumn debut of its first fully electric model in the UK, the e Vitara, with a campaign it’s calling “Suzuki Granted”—a kind of self-issued subsidy meant to take the place of the vanishing government incentives for electric vehicles.
The scheme boils down to a manufacturer-funded discount of up to £3,750. With it, the base Motion model, fitted with a 49 kWh battery, will start at £26,249. It sounds generous, but in essence, it’s an early pricing tactic repackaged as a special offer.
The same “grant” applies across all five e Vitara variants through the end of 2025. Suzuki is also throwing in a free Ohme home charger—again, more of a marketing flourish than a real value-add, considering the marginal cost of a charger compared to the vehicle itself.
Buyers can choose between 49 kWh and 61 kWh battery options, the latter available with all-wheel drive under the ALLGRIP-e name.
Suzuki says it will bring four more electric models to Europe by 2030. Even so, its strategic attention remains fixed on Japan, India, and Europe. And when it comes to the seriousness of its electrification efforts, it's worth noting that Suzuki is currently developing biogas from cow dung in India to power compressed natural gas vehicles—an energy source that still accounts for nearly a fifth of that market.
