British firm turns EV chargers into design pieces worth showing off

If the sight of a bland wall-mounted charger makes your eye twitch — or worse, invites sniggers from the neighbours — a British design company has the cure. Simpson & Partners, based in the Cotswolds, handcrafts electric car chargers offered in more than 130 colours.

Prices start at around €749 (£640), but this isn’t just about function. These chargers are built entirely from metal, with no plastic casings or garish LED strips. The look is quiet and refined, designed to blend just as well with a stone farmhouse wall as with the crisp façade of a modern villa.

Customers can choose between 7 kW and 22 kW units, wall-mounted or freestanding, with or without cables. Every model supports app-based control, solar energy integration, and smart load balancing.

Sure, you could grab a can of spray paint from the nearest DIY shop, but if you’ve already splashed out on a pricey EV, spending a little extra on a charger that looks the part hardly seems unreasonable.
