Škoda’s Green Dream: Vision O Signals a New Era for Octavia
The Škoda Vision O, herald of the next-generation Octavia, has arrived—or at least as much as any cryptic teaser can claim to have arrived. This is no mere electric car. It’s a manifesto for the future, a bold declaration where Škoda wants us to believe in the sanctity of “a holistic circular design concept.” What that actually means in practice is anyone’s guess, but it certainly sounds compelling.
This futuristic concept, dubbed Vision O, is expected to evolve into a fully electric Octavia. Its debut, a barely visible silhouette that nods to the shape of the 1960 Universal original while echoing the L&K 110, gestures toward something Škoda considers the current apex of aesthetic progress. Enter Modern Solid—a design language name as lofty as its execution, marked by minimized grilles and layered headlamp architecture. At the very least, you won’t mistake it for a Volkswagen anymore.
The promised body length is 4.7 metres, and range on a single charge should reach up to 600 kilometres. And because modernity never arrives without choice, there’s the option of rear-wheel or all-wheel drive.
But Vision O won’t stand alone. It’s set to coexist with its combustion-engine counterpart. The familiar Octavia Combi—the one that still works—will remain in production for a while longer. Because even the greenest vision needs a little oil-burned support.
