Škoda Prepares a Seven-Seat Electric Flagship for 2026

Long known as the sensible and value-conscious arm of the Volkswagen Group, Škoda is preparing to break character in 2026 with its most ambitious model yet: a full-size, seven-seat electric SUV aimed squarely at the premium family market.

The Czech brand, usually associated with rationality and affordability, has signaled a dramatic shift in positioning. Hints from Mladá Boleslav suggest that a new range-topping electric model is on the way, derived directly from the bold Vision 7S concept first shown in 2022. Unlike many flighty design studies, this one appears destined for production with only modest alterations.

When it arrives, the vehicle will stand as the largest and most expensive battery-powered Škoda in history. The timing is strategic: Europe still lacks a wide choice of genuinely spacious, all-electric family cars. Škoda intends to fill that gap, leveraging its reputation for practicality while stepping into an upper price bracket the brand has so far largely avoided.

Technically, the SUV will ride on the Volkswagen Group’s MEB platform, the same architecture that underpins the existing Enyaq. Yet this time the promise is more space, more versatility, and naturally, a higher price. Industry observers expect the production model—likely to wear the name “Space”—to slot well above the Enyaq, which in Germany starts at 44,400 euros. Even so, Škoda insists it will maintain a competitive value proposition compared with rival offerings.

Development is already well underway, with early prototypes spotted in testing. If the production car stays faithful to the 7S playbook, it could redefine how far Škoda can stretch as a brand, turning a company known for pragmatism into a serious contender in the premium electric SUV segment.
