Škoda Lets Fans Pick the Paint as Octavia vRS Gets a Cosmetic Nudge
Škoda has announced that its sporty Octavia vRS will now be available in two new paint colors—Space Violet and Water World Green—chosen not by the design department or through market research, but by fans online. Polls on X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram crowned these shades the winners, leaving Chilli Red and Plum Blue to fade into the background.
The new hues, exclusive to vRS-trim models, come at a premium of around €900. They’re being marketed, of course, as “eye-catching” and “boldly individual,” but this is clearly another attempt to give a visual refresh to a fourth-generation model that’s been on the market for a while, with only minimal technical updates along the way.
Mechanically, the Octavia vRS remains unchanged: a 265-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder, offered in both hatchback and wagon variants. Practicality, performance, and understated sportiness remain its key selling points. Do two new colors fundamentally change any of that? Hardly. But Škoda gets a moment of social media buzz and the warm glow of “community engagement.”
