Renault is resurrecting the Twingo nameplate, this time with a plug and a purpose. The all-electric Twingo E-Tech aims to bring nostalgic charm and affordable urban mobility together—at a price tag starting below €20,000.
The Renault Twingo E-Tech Electric marks the return of a city icon, reimagined for a new generation of urban drivers. Set to make its official debut on November 6, the model will first be offered through the Twingo R Pass program, giving early enthusiasts the chance to pre-order and receive their cars ahead of the general launch.
Developed in record time—just two years—the new Twingo sits on Renault’s AmpR Small platform, designed to make electric mobility accessible to the same audience that once drove tiny petrol-powered hatchbacks. Renault promises a base price under €20,000 before incentives, positioning the Twingo E-Tech as one of the most affordable full-electric vehicles in Europe.
The first official images reveal a design that proudly embraces its heritage. From the rounded headlights to the softly contoured one-box silhouette, the car pays homage to the original 1993 Twingo while refining it with aerodynamic smoothing and glossy black accents. Playful LED signatures and the familiar “smiling” front fascia give it a cartoonish, friendly look—true to the Twingo spirit.
At the rear, crescent-shaped taillights and Renault’s updated emblem add a touch of modern polish. The company describes the styling as travieso—mischievous, yet deliberate—a fitting nod to the model’s cheerful personality.
Renault makes no pretense about the Twingo E-Tech’s mission: this is a pure city car. Compact, light, and frugal, it’s built for simplicity and efficiency rather than performance or long-distance travel. Technical details such as battery capacity, output, and range remain under wraps, but Renault insists that economy and accessibility are the guiding principles.
Much like the upcoming electric Renault 5 and 4, the new Twingo will launch with its own fan initiative. The Twingo R Pass offers early adopters exclusive perks, including priority production and delivery, along with undisclosed benefits related to equipment or pricing.
