Renault Grand Koleos is being sent to conquer the world

The Grand Koleos debuted this summer and marks the first joint project between Renault and the Chinese automaker Geely. The French automaker borrowed from the Monjaro model the body structure and hybrid powertrain, with which the model is sold on the Chinese market (known there as Xingyue L). The differences are mainly limited to exterior design: the Grand Koleos has a frameless radiator grille, into which the original Monjaro lighting is smoothly integrated.

Currently, the Renault Grand Koleos, which essentially is a redesigned Geely Monjaro, is produced in South Korea and is exclusive to the local market. However, during the summer, several publications began hinting that this model might soon appear outside the country of manufacture, and reportedly, a decision has now been made: Renault is considering launching the model in the Middle East and Africa, making it a global model. We, however, should not expect it here. The export version will likely drop the "Grand" prefix and be positioned as the new generation Koleos.

In South Korea, the Grand Koleos is offered with a gasoline-electric hybrid system E-Tech, which consists of a 1.5-liter gasoline engine and an electric motor. As an alternative, a 211-horsepower 2.0-liter internal combustion engine is also available. In the front-wheel-drive version, this engine works with a seven-speed robotic transmission, while in the all-wheel-drive version, it works with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The Grand Koleos generated great excitement in South Korea. During the launch, Renault's local dealers received several hundred orders every day, and in just 11 days, their number exceeded seven thousand. Such demand likely prompted Renault to consider selling the model in other regions.

According to sources, Renault plans to sell the Koleos in the Middle East and Africa with both the 2.0-liter internal combustion engine and the hybrid system. This move would signify a significant expansion and help to considerably strengthen Renault's position in the global market. The exact release date of the model outside South Korea has not yet been disclosed.
