Renault has unveiled the sixth-generation Clio, a hatchback designed to reinforce its reputation as a versatile, intelligent small car that blends design, technology and efficiency. The new model promises more character, better equipment and a sharper driving experience, all for around €20,000 (£17,000).

The latest Clio stands out with a more assertive shape, a wide front grille and a dynamic 4.12-metre body that edges toward small crossover proportions. A roomy 391-litre boot and clever interior storage make it equally suited to city driving and weekend getaways.

New hybrid power and familiar petrol options

The biggest change lies under the bonnet. The Clio now offers several powertrains, including a new 145-hp E-Tech full hybrid that sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.3 seconds. Average fuel consumption is 3.9 litres per 100 km, and CO₂ emissions start from just 89 g/km, among the best in its class.

The entry-level model uses the TCe 115 petrol engine with a manual or EDC automatic gearbox, starting at around €20,000 (£17,000). The hybrid range begins at €28,000 (£24,000).

Google inside

At the heart of the new generation sits Renault’s OpenR Link multimedia system, complete with built-in Google services. Drivers get Google Maps, Google Assistant and Google Play, all seamlessly integrated into a single connected interface. The car features up to 29 driver-assistance systems, including adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, driver attention monitoring and blind-spot detection.

Three trims, three personalities

Evolution – the well-equipped base model priced under €20,000 (£17,000), includes a 10.1-inch display, air conditioning, rear parking sensors and an automatic parking brake.

Techno – the balance of connectivity and comfort, offering Google integration, automatic climate control, a reversing camera, LED ambient lighting and 16-inch alloy wheels.

Esprit Alpine – the sportier flagship, with Alcantara upholstery, aluminium pedals, 18-inch wheels, a backlit Renault badge, intelligent cruise control and active driver assistance.

A smart evolution, not a revolution

The new Clio stays true to its mission of being affordable yet mature in technology. More importantly, it reflects Renault’s broader shift in strategy: bringing electrification and digital integration to the masses, not just to its premium models. While rivals chase full-electric glory, Renault offers a flexible hybrid route that appeals both to sceptics and to early adopters of new tech.

Orders for the new Clio open today, with first deliveries scheduled for early 2026.
