Porsche 911 Cup: 520 Horses and a €269,000 Ticket to a Private Starting Grid
Porsche has unveiled its updated 911 Cup car, set to debut in 2026 on the grids of the Carrera Cup and Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup. Priced at €269,000 before tax, it firmly occupies the space between the race circuit and the driveways of the well-heeled.
Based on the 992.2 generation 911, the new Cup gains an extra ten horsepower, now delivering 520 hp (382 kW) from its 4.0-litre flat-six. The engine’s 100-hour service interval for track use is a notable advantage in the world of customer racing.
Stylistically, it follows the 992.2 GT3: a three-piece front splitter, integrated fender vents, and a redesigned underbody improve aerodynamics while keeping parts costs in check. At the rear, a reworked swan-neck rear wing and carbon-fibre elements—partially made from recycled fibres—add both performance and sustainability credentials.
Under the skin, both brakes and electronics see meaningful upgrades. New 380 mm brake discs offer better cooling and longer life, while ABS software can now flag potential leaks in the braking system. Inside, controls are laid out more intuitively, with features designed to reduce the need for laptops during pit stops.
Electronics include TPMS with tyre temperature monitoring, a stronger GPS antenna, and GT3 R–derived race features such as automatic engine shutdown during pit stops. Michelin has also collaborated with Porsche to create new race tyres specifically for the Cup.
Porsche continues to position the 911 Cup as the foundation of its “motorsport pyramid.” In plain terms, it remains one of the most expensive ways to access 520 horses and a flat-six soundtrack, and one of the cheapest ways to etch your name into the record books at a race circuit.
