Polestar adds Google Gemini, the next big step or just another voice in the cabin
Polestar is bringing Google Gemini into its cars, a generative AI voice assistant that promises natural conversations and smarter in car help.
Polestar and Google demonstrated the system for the first time at Slush in Helsinki, showing how Gemini behaves inside the Polestar 5. The new assistant replaces Google Assistant and introduces a conversational AI that responds to the prompt “Hey Google, let’s talk”. In theory it sounds convenient. In everyday use it may turn into another feature most drivers try once and quietly forget.
Polestar calls the move a natural step in its digital experience. Google highlights long term partnership and innovation. The simple truth is that more software also means deeper dependence on screens and the cloud.
Gemini arrives in Polestar models in 2026, initially in US English only.
The partnership adds intelligence to the brand’s cabins, but it remains to be seen whether Gemini becomes more than a polished tech demo in the background of daily commutes.
