Opel Frontera Delivers Space, Sanity, and a Welcome Lack of Drama

Opel has decided that a family car doesn’t have to look like a cross between a moving van and a mobile laundry room. The new Frontera hits the market with exactly what many have been waiting for: a reasonably normal price, a flexible interior, and a whole lot of space.

The latest Frontera offers up to 1600 liters of cargo capacity. As a five-seater, you get 460 liters in the trunk, but fold down the rear seats and that space stretches to nearly two meters.

For an extra €850, the GS trim can be configured with seven seats—perfect for scooping up your kid’s last-minute school friends. The third row folds independently, meaning you don’t have to choose between practicality and comfort. You get both.

If you want affordable, the hybrid Frontera starts at €19,900. If you're after a fully electric version with a clean conscience, the BEV model kicks off at €24,900. Both come equipped with clever details and are built to handle the full chaos of workdays, school runs, and weekend getaways without inducing range anxiety.

The design keeps it simple: flat sides and a near-vertical rear window mean that all that interior volume goes to actual use, not to the dreams of wind tunnel engineers. At 4.39 meters long and 1.85 wide, it’s big enough to impress but compact enough to park without triggering a cardiac event.

And if 1600 liters still isn’t enough, there’s a full catalog of roof boxes, luggage kits, and storage accessories to help keep the rolling circus of your life organized and under control.
