Omoda may have once seemed like just another late entrant in the Chinese carmaker surge, but with safety now checked off the list, it’s clearly stepping into serious territory. The brand’s hybrid flagship, the Omoda 9 SHS, has just secured a full five-star rating from Euro NCAP—meeting the rigorous 2025 safety standards head-on.

A standout 90% score for adult occupant protection and 85% for child safety is no small feat, especially given the wide array of crash scenarios tested, from frontal impacts to side collisions.

The car’s safety arsenal is stacked: automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, 360-degree cameras, and adaptive cruise control are all part of the standard kit.

Under the hood, the 9 SHS combines a turbocharged 1.5-liter petrol engine with two electric motors and a 34.46 kWh battery, delivering a total of 449 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque. It sprints from zero to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds. One recent drive saw the car traverse nine European countries on a single tank and charge—covering 1,175 kilometers, even exceeding its official WLTP range of 1,126 km.

With credentials like this, Omoda isn’t just knocking on Europe’s door—it’s already inside, sitting down, and quietly demanding to be taken seriously.
