Novitec pushes the Lamborghini Urus into new dimensions
The Lamborghini Urus has never been a shy machine, yet Germany’s best known tuning house Novitec has found a way to give it an even more self assured presence. A new aero package stretches the crossover noticeably wider and adds a gallery of sharp edges and carbon fibre. The result carries more brute aggression than Lamborghini itself would ever deliver, even though the engine figures remain untouched.
Novitec’s kit brings wider arches that increase the front track by 100 millimetres and the rear by 120 millimetres. The visual impact needs little explanation. The car seems to breathe deeper and occupy more space than most city blocks are willing to tolerate. A carbon fibre splitter, side skirts, rear diffuser and fresh spoiler element improve aerodynamics while injecting yet another dose of character.
The package includes 23 inch forged Vossen wheels. A thoroughly revised air suspension module allows the ride height to be adjusted by up to 50 millimetres. Novitec did not stop at bodywork. For an additional fee you can add a vented carbon fibre bonnet and matching mirror caps.
The Urus retains its four litre twin turbo V8 with 800 horsepower and a top speed of 315 kilometres per hour. Those figures remain intact. The new exhaust system, however, gives the engine a far harsher voice. The valved setup can be built from steel or from a nickel and chrome alloy with a golden finish, making the mechanical ensemble as striking as the car itself.
Tuned super SUVs are becoming increasingly uncompromising. Rivals such as Brabus and Mansory offer similarly dramatic wide body packages, although Novitec usually keeps a more restrained line. With the Urus the market appears to demand boldness and visual impact. As cars become more electric, a combustion powered giant stands out through sound and physical presence. Machines like this briefly revive the harder edged era of motoring that refuses to fade quietly.
