A late night attempt at practising drift skills in Riga ended in the sort of lesson that tends to be both expensive and embarrassingly public. A young driver in the Latvian capital pushed things too far, slid too much and ended up damaging both his own car and the road beneath it.
In Latvia, that sort of behaviour is not written off as youthful enthusiasm or harmless showing off. It falls under aggressive driving, a category the authorities treat seriously and punish accordingly.
