Full-Throttle Elegance: The Mercedes-AMG GT2 Edition W16 Roars Onto the Track
In Affalterbach, Mercedes-AMG has fused Formula 1® technology and GT racing DNA to produce its most powerful Customer Racing machine yet—the GT2 Edition W16—an ultra-exclusive, track-only beast brimming with raw power, aerodynamic ingenuity, and collector-grade craftsmanship.
Mercedes-AMG has revealed the GT2 Edition W16, a razor-sharp evolution of the 2022 GT2 track car that channels the full-force spirit of its F1 technology. The new model boasts an unparalleled 830 hp from its handcrafted 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, complete with new turbochargers, an upgraded ECU, and a Push2Pass system that injects an instantaneous 100 hp and 200 Nm under finger-tip command, momentarily lifting output and torque to extraordinary levels.
At a mere 1 430 kg, the GT2 Edition W16 delivers a jaw-dropping power-to-weight ratio of roughly 1.7 kg per hp, and is capable of surpassing 320 km/h with ease.
Aerodynamics are meticulously honed with a newly enlarged splitter, active louvres above the front wheels, mirrors and spoiler lips refined for racing-level airflow management, and a DRS (Drag Reduction System) straight from F1 for high-speed gains. Suspension is fiercely adjustable, with multi-stage dampers and anti-roll bars tuned for track precision.
The visual language is strikingly F1-inspired: a hand-painted body, PETRONAS-green highlights, and carbon-fiber interiors accented in signature livery, inside, the driver’s domain features “1 of 30” inscriptions and the autograph of F1’s Kimi Antonelli on the door sill.
Not homologated for any racing series, it exists outside of regulations—meant purely for track day exclusivity and collectors. Owners will collect their cars at a European racetrack event and enjoy access to Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team figures, alongside bespoke race gear by OMP and Bell Helmets.
This is a limited creation, only 30 examples. It marks the pinnacle of AMG’s Customer Racing arsenal, the most potent and exclusive yet. Delivery is priced from €679 000 (excluding VAT).
