The Indy Autonomous Challenge (IAC), in collaboration with Politecnico di Milano and Maserati, has set a new world speed record for autonomous vehicles at the historic NASA Space Shuttle landing site in Cape Canaveral, Florida. This facility, one of the world's longest runways at 4.5 km (15,000 feet), served as the stage for this groundbreaking achievement.

The Maserati MC20 Coupé, controlled by an advanced AI system developed by researchers at Politecnico di Milano, reached an impressive top speed of 318 km/h (197.7 mph)—surpassing the previous record of 310 km/h (192.8 mph), which was set in 2022.

This is not the first time the Maserati MC20 has made history in autonomous driving. In November 2024, the same model became the fastest autonomous production car after reaching 285 km/h (177 mph) at the Piacenza Military Airfield in Italy.
